The Illuminated Psalm Series: 62:6-7
There was much turbulence in King David’s life. Yet, amidst challenges of every nature, he had the discipline, patience and fortitude to create an inner fortress of silence, his own soul-space, where his essence could merge with the Essence of life itself. From this bedrock of being he drew his strength and hope. Such unshakable faith comes from complete surrender of the ego, from knowing that there is nothing other than God. He turned down the volume of the world and tuned into his Maker.
It is easy to act on impulse. It takes much strength to allow time to pass
in non-action and remain connected to that silent place within that is
not subject to the whims of time and circumstance. This month, cultivate
inner silence and patience as a path to peace and faith. For a few minutes
each day, listen to the sound of your breath, deep and slow, as it so faithfully
breathes you. Wait in silence and stillness as you feel inner strength
come up to meet you. Hold on to the rock of your Creator and be free.
