“Hashem, your God, is true.”
From the Shema, Traditional Daily Prayer

The Hebrew word for truth, emet, is composed of the three root letters, aleph, mem and tav.

The aleph and the tav are the first and last letters of the alphabet and the mem lies at the very middle. This teaches us that only God sees the whole picture – the beginning, middle and oucome of an event or a lifetime - and for this reason emet is more accurately translated as “reality.” Our understanding of things, however brilliant, is always limited by our subjective thinking. Only divine intelligence can span past, present and future.
