“Lavan had two daughters, the name of the older one was Leah and the name of the younger one was Rachel. Leah’s eyes were tender, while Rachel was of beautiful form and beautiful of appearance.” Bereshet/Genesis 29:16-17

Though married to Ya’akov through her father’s deception, Leah never received the love Ya’akov had for his other wife, Rachel. Yet, she was blessed by G-d in being the mother of six of the twelve tribes of Israel from which all Jews descend.
