“Now you shall command the Children of Israel that they shall take for you pure olive oil, pressed for illumination, to kindle a lamp continually. In the Tent of Meeting, outside the Partition tht is near the Testimonial tablets, Aharon and his sons shall arrange it from evening until morning, before Hashem, an eternal decree for their generations, from the Children of Israel.” Shemot/Exodus 27:20-21

The Eternal Light (Ner Tamid) is hung above the Aron HaKodesh (ark) where the Sefer Torah is kept inside every Synagogue. Our sages describe the Ner Tamid as a shining symbol of G-d’s eternal Presence in our world and in our lives.
