“The Torah of the Lord is perfect, it restores the soul...” Tehillim/Psalm 19:8

Who can paint the concept of the Torah, the words of the Almighty, given to Moses on Mount Sinai? For me, this painting is a celebration of the written covenant with the Jewish people, the unceasing assurance from the Source of all life and the fact that we are divinely protected and loved whenwe walk this ordained path. It is said that everyone has their own inner Torah, uniquely illuminated by the light of Truth as our lives “unscroll.” This is mine - for now.

My spiraling design echoes the unceasing cycle of the reading of the Torah, year after year, generation to generation, as we wrap ourselves in G-d’s holy words and decrees. In five of the circles are the five titles of the books: Bereshet (Genesis), Shemot (Exodus), Vayikra (Leviticus), Bamidbar (Numbers), and Devarim (Deuteronomy.) In the sixth and uppermost circle I put the crown of Hashem, the Supreme Author.

When the yetzer ha’rah (evil inclination) surrounds and challenges us, we must look inward, into the core of our beliefs, to the beautiful blossoming rose of the Torah.
